Have you ever opened up an old, often-used couch cushion to see what’s inside it? No matter how much you’ve cleaned it, you might still find dirt, dust bunnies, and other contaminants after opening it up. According to one story from the Chicago Tribune, upholsterers have even found mouse droppings and spider webs inside some couches. The truth is that couch cushions that have been used for at least a decade are carrying a significant amount of built-up pollutants. You might even be able to observe this if you see a cloud of dust after hitting your cushions.
